MAD COWS EAT METAL DETECTORISTS !!!🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂

« on: November 04, 2017, 05:38:19 PM »

Hi to all, well after being informed that my Roman field was free from the "milk beasts" at last, myself and a very new member to the Detecting Wales forum"Johntp"managed to get on the field at about 10:45 am(ish).
Normally the entrance onto the field is easy and you can drive on to the concrete hard standing and park up without any problems whatsoever....however as the field had only just become free from a heard of"milk beasts"it was absolutely covered in what "milk beasts do much of !!...anyway eventually we managed to park two cars .We both got ready for the great Detecting event !!....well !!..what a waste of time,we decided to call it a day by about 3:00 pm.very tired and me somewhat disappointed!!..after all if mentioned to Jon that this field had been very fruitful on past detecting ventures!!..Sorry John, perhaps we can have better luck on the new permission we were given by the land owner who was passing by as we began to pack away our muddy, detectors, pointers and filthy wellies!!
So now for the one find we made....wait for it !!!...ready?...ok..it was a solitary WHORL !!
nothing more !!.well that's detecting I suppose.
I would like to take this opportunity of saying a big thanks to Johntp"who was great company and  very understanding about the total lack of finds of the day..but it was great to have
a good old natter,so cheers John, and hope that next time we can find some good stuff.
Thanks for reading, apology's for doubling up on photos,admin..please remove one thanks. And thanks for reading...good hunting..👍

Fields are like kids and dogs Chris. Whatever you say about them they have a way of making liars out of you. I’ve only ever twice taken someone onto one of my fields and the same thing happened, nothing, nada. The next time I went I found a pocket drop, 4 three three pences a penny and a half penny. Nice spindle whorl, old as well.
Maybe more luck next time eh!

Milk Beasts, love it Chris... Cheesy Cheesy it's a shame the finds never surfaced for you and John especially as you invited him along. Still you got a new permission out of it mate so best of luck on those fields.  Wink

Hi Chris like I say detecting is a bit like fishing, that's why we call it fishing not catching. I still had a fab day out. it was good to get out on some fields with the excitement of finding Roman artefacts and I still had that adrenaline rush when that piece of gold foil popped out of the ground, cant imagine what it must feel like to find a gold coin.  Grin
