Hi guys, the lure of the Med 1 field was too much so not surprisingly I found myself on a long search which started off in the thick fog very early in the morning but ended up at dusk, with nothing but the sound of the roosting pheasants settling in the trees, the smell of the smoke coming from the chimneys from a nearby village slowly drifting along the valley, coupled from the lovely smell of the recently ploughed soil in the cooling chilly air…..I love this smell and its these conditions and experiences  that first and foremost  is why I love this hobby of ours. Anyway I’m being a soppy tart so I will get down to the business end of the search. The Sestertious was found sticking out the side of the furrow as seen. The top strap end is Saxon of zoomorphic design the bottom I am not quite sure either way I love these little artefacts. I have to say most of these finds came up after I changed the 11” coil over to the 9” smaller coil on the Deus, clearly it was able to cut through the iron and pick out the smaller targets, ground coverage is not as important on a site like this one.  Any way here’s the group shot of the day's detecting also some of the finds are in artefacts ID section as I would like any opinions.

Once again Paul a really eclectic mix. What amazes me is the ages they cover, from Roman, Saxon, Elizabethan through to Georgean. Great finds with yet another Roman brooch  Roll Eyes

Thanks Val, I guess it's not supprising on the age front of finds given that a Roman villa is situated 250 Mtrs away, and a Saxon church and Manor House aswell.....But as you say it's an electric mix for sure, I'd be the first to admit...... Wink

I'm not surprised you spend so much time in that field - if you know you are going to find something in a particular area then you go back - and it pays off for you time and time again Smiley.

Nice range of finds as ever too
