So I decided to sneak a quick hour down at Penally beach yesterday, then ended up staying for 5. Time does fly. For the first hour or so all I had to show for my effort was a couple of brass bullet cases from the wet sand. So I decided to move up onto the dry sand to try my luck there, then I started to find some coins. The best was a florin dated 1967 from a foot down, then I had a very iffy signal (sounded like iron) but I decided to dig anyway and out came a 5p coin, again from about a foot down. So I am happy that my Cscope 990xd is reaching down into the ground fairly well. Then I had a large high pitched screaming signal and I though Oh! must be a coke can. so I gave the sand a quick scrape with my size 8 beetle crushers to reveal the corner of a cigarette packet and was feeling disappointed to say the least. Then I remembered that some people put money or even jewellery in fag packets before they go swimming, so with my mind filled with thought of treasure and riches I give the sand another scrape with my boot and out popped an unopened packet of 20 smokes. Fortunately I gave up smoking a long time ago.

Well done John. I used to find that beach difficult. Never found much there.
Shame to admit that the fags are worth more than coins  Tongue
