Hi everyone , I have a favour to ask . My daughter is very keen on metal detecting , although just a beginner , as can be evidenced by the holes in my lawn...... It is nigh on impossible to join any clubs where we live so finding it difficult to start out in any meaningful way . We are looking to spend a few days around the brecon / Gower area next week and wondered if anyone could recommend somewhere we could go . Are the beaches around the Gower area protected so not accessible ? . We are not necessarily looking to find saxon hordes but some old coins etc would keep the dream alive !! . She has a Euro Ace and a pro pointer so hopefully that will be sufficient to be starting out .
Thanks for any advice you can give us .

Take a look at the Crown Coastal Map link below:

https://crownestate.maps.arcgis.com/apps/Viewer/index.html?appid=0aac22685d2f4d78a2a3b0a5aa1660db

I understand it is permissable to detect on these marked areas without having to apply for consent.

Ha certainly on foot . I wasnt sure where to stay thats all . Have decided on Brecon now . Generally based in sunny essex where there are about three clubs all with closed admissions and long waiting lists .

Anyway we are staying on a farm so sure they wont mind a bit of digging help . Does anyone ever find anything in the wilderness Huh  At least we are less likely to find ring pulls i guess .          Thanks To Briser for the link .

The odd coin pops up now and then.

Make sure you have permission off the farmer / land owner before detecting, and the mountain moor lands are generally out of bounds, because gaining permission is mainly impossible.
