MAD COWS EAT METAL DETECTORISTS !!!🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂🐂

« on: September 19, 2017, 04:44:44 PM »

Hi everyone,Well after a long absence of "coil to the soil detecting I had my first day back on to the fields..and what a great day it proved to be..gotta say that I'm still very impressed with the MAKRO "racer"(red!...it really is a very capable machine, this one being the second one I have purchased, even better with the addition of a Mars TIGER coil.. extremely deep and very very sensitive.
All the Roman coins were at an appropriate depth of over seven inches.on very wet pastures, the Victoria shilling was at a depth of only a couple of inches.
Hope the photos are ok for an identification.
Thanks for reading.👍

At last  Grin.  Well found Chris. Nice to see you posting some good finds.
I'm a non-starter with Roman but I'm sure someone will help later.

Well done Chris, I've been waiting in anticipation as you got your old setup back together, and what a nice collection worthy of any experienced detector or is it detectorist (never got to the bottom of that one, but on this site someone will have.)
Good luck for the future and keep them coming. 👍👍👍

Can't make out much on that chunk of Roman. Could it poss. Have 2 mounted horses on the one side ?

Greg,   The detector is the machine, add an 'ist' and you've got Chris with the aching back  Grin

Hi Val,yes you could very well be right about the two headed horse Roman coin.
I keep looking at it but still cannot be certain...perhaps the "Doc" would be kind enough to have a close look at it.
And as you say,if it is hat old it certainly would place the Roman occupation of West Wales a heck of a lot earlier than originally thought.
Great if it was,and many thanks for for your very observant contribution...👍

The big coin is almost certainly an 18th century token - with two jugate heads facing left on the one side....
