I just thought I would give a quick report on my snorkelling experience with the hand held Scuba Tector recently whilst on holiday in Argassi. I won't go into any kind of test report as such as those of you who picks up Treasure Hunting and the Searcher magazines will already of seen the articles covering tests.
My first day into the water revealed very little in the way of finds just a few recent drops of euros. The main reason was excess sand clearly visible on the bottom in the way of ridges building up.
Not to be disappointed and having such good fun and of course the lure of Gold Grin I continued to put a few hours in over the next couple of days. Mid week we woke to a storm Huh more like something you get in the tropics and according to our lady we rented the apartment from and  very unusual for this time of year. My next search I decided to walk down to the far end of the beach looking for any sand bars within snorkelling range, it wasn't long before I could see stones showing just a few meters of the waters edge, needless to say I was straight in and spent the next 2 hours amongst the stones where the sand had been pushed off. Most of my searching was done in about 2 foot or so of water using a plastic garden trowel to waive away any sand and stones, the area I searched was about 10 x 10 meters and continuously turned up coins mostly pre euros and many corroded to rocks in the black sand. Most of my finds were 4-5 " deep, enough to find Gold in different beach conditions but not for me this time. It would only take 1 Gold ring and machine would pay for it self. So to sum up, a serious piece of kit for the job at hand, very well made, easy to navigate modes, sensitive....and above all great fun... Wink Cool

Well it kept you busy at least. Better than sitting around getting Sun burn.
You could try some river detecting. Might even pay for itself  Grin
