Hi Folks
I found this button whilst detecting on some pasture last Sunday.  I've had a look on the internet and cannot find it anywhere.
Would like help to ID it please. It has letters on each side of the crossed rifles which seem to read DU x NO. HuhHuhHuhHuh?
Also found a mixture of Geo 2, Geo 3 and Vicky copper coins in the same field.
Just for info, the Comux Tree Gold stater found by Ron went under the hammer at Spinks today and fetched £5000.00.  Very nice for us and the landowner.
Cheers and Happy Digging!!!  Tom.

Had a quick look around for a match and have seen several very similar dating to the American Civil War. They are muskets not rifles and were worn by US Infantry.

Thanks Val.  As you said they look like muskets.  All we need now is 'what does the lettering stand for'.
Cheers.  Tom

Thanks Paul. We are pleased with the result, though more would have been more pleasing.  We've been back to the same field a couple of times since the original find and have not found anything special.  The landowner seems to think he may have brought the Comux closer to the surface after digging a cesspit and spreading the soil nearby.  Quite possible I suppose.  Anyway, we'd definitely like to find a few more to help pay for all our equipment and expenses!!
Happy Digging!!!  Tom
