Found this Last night, 4 inches down. Using the hot programme on the new version of the Deus software.
Gave quite a good signal considering it's so small.
Think its a 3 Farthings, dated 1567.
Pierced so will show the FLO, see what they think. I've had a few Lizzy coins from this permission, all of them pierced, wonder why?

Thanks

I read where people would pierce a coin and tie it with a piece of cotton inside their shirt or tunic or dress etc and do this with several coins in different places so as it didn't look as though they were carrying money but done so they could easily snap a thread and pull one out if. Needed, hope this helps Will. Hop your op goes ok and your not out of action long.

The coin was probably holed in the Great Recoinage of 1696 when all the hammered coins were called in to be replaced by milled. Any hammereds that were in unclipped condition were officially holed and reissued. I think it was another 20 years or so before all the hammered were finally taken out of circulation..
