V4 has a hidden gem after all?

The pitch option now also has discrimination that allows iron volume... an excellent setting for my old ears...I have found I can up the audio response and still get depth perception thanks to the deeper, smaller targets generating a lower tone...mind you, changing reactivity and or frequency also changes the pitch frequency, so it can get a bit confusing!

I'm still trying to find out for sure if the Deus Discrimination and Notch really do reduce depth, my understanding is that the Deus uses digital tone separation and so no performance should be reduced...except for signals that bounce around near the cut of point...which often happens with deep non ferrous targets, I have e mailed XP for an answer.

Its a shame that you cant save multiple tone choices within one programme, if I swap from pitch to say 2 tones....the 2 tones are not what I would have wanted....anyone know if there is a way of doing this....each time I switch (to rest my ears) the two tone threshold tones are all over the place.

yes Val, but its a nuisance as I  may have tweaked the pitch programme and will loose tweaks if I change programme slot....unless I re tweak that...tbh I'm begining to think tweaking is the problem lol

thanks Jerry, his take is to use as low a discrimination as possible and get on with it, which is wise advise I think.

Just had a reply from Gary,

Discrimination will make very little difference to depth in air, it is only when the ground is introduced things start to change.
You will loose the sound on deep targets that are nearly out of detection range, because the ground starts to consume them.
If you use a lower discrimination these "on the fringe of detection" targets will be given a better chance.

makes sense!!!!
