Spent a few hours out this morning on a field which up until today had given up few finds of any interest. Last time I went on it I did 4 hours and found nothing. Today I found my first thimble, a spindle whorl, Victoria threepence and a nice Elizabeth I threepence. It's a funny old game  Grin

Thanks. It's my second Lizzie and the first one was far more worn than this one. The field is going back under the plough in a few weeks so I'll be back up there very soon  Cheesy

That really is a very nice coin in excellent condition - I'm guessing it looked different fresh from the ground. A great find.

I'm still waiting for my first hammered coin but I'm sure it's out there somewhere...

Thanks Trefor. To be honest, besides a little bit of mud in some of the crevasses, it pretty much came out like that. Lovely feeling when you first see it. Only my 3rd hammered coin but my best so far. I'm sure there's plenty out there.

Very nice - it's amazing what a field might produce after you've been there before.
