Went out today with my new fisher and after learning a bit the machine got a few pieces of led and then got a solid number, when I got the coin I thought it was a small roman but after washing a bit I saw what it was.its only a coin but I fell chuffed.
According with my coin book it's a halfpenny,it's 19mm but I can't find which one.
Any of you knows which one? Thanks

Andre

Well done mate, told you the Fisher would be good, it will only get better the more you get used to it.  Wink

As for you coin, for me mate better any day than a roman coin, I just loved hammered coins.

Re the ID I am sure someone will be along to ID it properly for you but at first glance it looks to me like a Henry v or v1, I haven't got my book to check properly for you so could be wrong.

Well done on your first hammered, it looks like  a Henry vii half groat.

Thanks guys, when the coin came out I honestly thought on what you said Mark, about the fishers. My book shows a few pennies with 19mm across.I felt really happy on that field.😃

Still not sure of which one is it.the cross doesn't go all the way across the coin and on the top ends on a little rosette.
Anyone,any more clues?And the buckle?thanks

As I said earlier it's a Henry vii half groat Canterbury mint. It's one of the earlier full face types

The one that most people use is Spinks coins of England. It has all the coins minted here from Celtic up to today. Not the best for Roman coins though.
