I went out for a couple of hours today and had a few old pennies then I dug this, Can anyone tell me what it is please?

Firstly congratulations on your first hammered, nice feeling isn't it.

I've not go the same machine as you, but you do have to be careful with the hammered's, on my machine the tone can be a bit mixed, the slightly battered ones like yours can sometimes give me a mixed/foil signal, also in the ground a cut quarter can give a good high tone, but once on the surface it can give me a lower reject tone, if in doubt dig it.  Wink Wink

Thanks for the advice, I love the machine but im still getting to grips with it, I getting to know the different signals but still a lot to learn Smiley

Definitely London mint, and Edward I or II. Some of the details are obscured or not present to be certain which Edward, so I cannot be definite sorry.

The letter 'G' is quite distinctive - it should be possible to narrow it down to a class from that, but I can't remember which class has that type of 'G'
