well the day didnt start very well , turned on the explorer no tone , headphone lead faulty  Angry and a heavy drizzle set in , oh the joy of metal detecting  Cheesy Cheesy .

the field i chose ( old pasture ) has been very heavily detected and to be honest i wasnt holding out a lot of hope of many signals so this would be a fair test for that little extra depth this coil promises .

signals apart from iron were scarce but a few bits of small lead the odd button and shotty top turned up , then a little roman at a respectable depth , the 1st for a long time off this field , im now getting cold and very damp and beginning to make my way back to the car more iron signals then a very faint 'grot' signal and up came roman #2 for the day at a very decent 8" .

the coil is very stable with little chatter , sensitive to small targets and deep , i very much doubt i would have had the 2nd roman with the sef coil i usually use , so all in all a good result and very promising for future hunts on similar fields  Smiley Smiley Smiley

These little things are here to test us Mike, at least you hit some roman, get warmed up, and get another session soon. Wink

Well done Mike. Hats off to you getting out in this weather, it's been pretty miserable here since about 10 this morning.
At least you got the feel of the new toy, no holds barred next time

Nice going Mike; I hate detecting in the rain. Look forward to seeing some more finds from your new partnership.

Glad you found some romans Mike. I'm impressed if you got those the usual field Smiley

It was changing my coil after seeing you with your shiny new Ultimate that made the difference for me before - have you got any pictures of your grots?
