Any constructive ideas..please

Hi to all, I wonder if anyone out there can come up with any constructive ideas on how I can replace a quite well worn 'sponge' handle on my MACRO RACER detector.
I've been in touch with the manufacturers and they say have never heard of anybody wanting to replace the spring hand grip,and that it's fitted prior to assembly.
I've had a word with great  guy Nigel at Regtons,and he says hat actually trying to replace it does involve deconstruction of the assembly,lots a wires etc !!....YUK !!!so I don't capable of that  !!...SO..does anyone have any ideas on how I can replace this handle.
The reason why it needs replacing is i I've a harness and the constant too and frowing has caused the rubber to perish and it's now time to replace it...many thanks for looking..👍

Buy some Vet Wrap (used for animal injuries)) and try that over the top...

Not sure i had my racer for a while now and never had issue with the handle but maybe buy one of the small size foam tube and  use cable  tie or some sort of glue to secure the foam   if its to big just  cut it to size thats how i will do it . but i am.not a expert on diy just a idea.

And wrap with a camo tape to make it clean .

Many thanks to Napoleon and da monkey for your inputs regarding the replacement rubber handle on my MACRO RACER..and indeed I shall certainly be trying them out.
Actually perhaps I could develop a hardy comfortable universal handle replacement to suit most metal detectors !!...watch out for me on "Dragons Den ".... LOL...😁...thanks fellas !!.👍

Hi Napoleon(Nap)...also..SIR .. LOL,a quick update , I went onto AMAZON and found some sort of tape which is used for wrapping around the handle bars of bikes.
Just ordered it, apparently it's some kind of rubberised cushioned tape , , anyway thanks for giving me the ideas guys,and I will certainly post some pictures,and give a report on how it actually preforms ....👍
