out today near bedford and i recovered this sad looking hammered coin, who's only discerning feature was a tudor shield.

on cleaning, it was obvioius that not much more could be told, so i decided to straighten the object and was reasonably pleased with the result, as it shows, it maybe an elizabeth 1st penny, [the number 15 was a strong clue!], and the mintmark suggests 5th issue ... spink size matches it to the 1570's.... its diameter is 19mm

enjoy

nice job with the straightening Smiley

Can't be a penny as those don't have dates (only every other denomination has a date, so 6d, 3d, 1 1/2d) - I'd suggest more likely a 3d as those seem to be the ones that come up most.
