Hi guys, you may remember a while back I posted a picture of a crop mark I came across from 1945 in one of my fields suspecting it to be roman, well with the crop out and it having been cultivated it goes without saying a search was on the cards...I have to say before I found the crop mark I had only wandered over this area and not spent much time due to lack of finds and it being a huge field. Well here are the results from a 6 hr search, a villa probably ? but roman building for sure. The first brooch to fall to the Deus was the Plate (umbanate conical) with enamelled cells, 2nd cent AD, the very last signal was the La'Tene 111, with an angled rear head and dates to around 50 AD. These are the first good finds of the season and I will return and keep you updated, hope you enjoy anyway.....Spikey.

Great result Paul. Nothing quite like when it all comes together.
Just love the plate brooch. Not your first, if I remember right, and another one complete with pin.
Look forward to seeing what else comes up  Wink

Nice plate brooch - again Smiley I do find them more interesting than the usual ones.

The coins range from what looks like a worn As of Antoninus Pius through a Carausius and the usual mix of 4th century stuff.

Should be a couple of denarii hanging around there somewhere.

Hi Roland, thanks for that I'm a bit ahead of you mate, all I can think of since I had this lot is denari, as you say surly there must be one or two hanging round there... Roll Eyes it's just been seeded and rolled so two guesses where I'll be tomorrow for several hours, watch this space... Wink
