Hi .
My name is Karl. I've had a long time interest in this hobby .So now the kids are up and gone and I'm approaching the sunset years (54) . I find myself with some spare time .So I just bit the bullet and bought a Garret Ace 400i.Any advice would be gratefully welcome .Hope to see you in the fields sometime .

Hi Karl.
Approaching the Sunset, I think you will find you are quite a young pup, compared to a lot of the members in this game.
The Garrett is a great machine, but like all detectors you will need to practice, and that will involve quite a bit of digging to understand what it is telling you.
My advice, before you venture out, is to raid you wife's jewel box and any gold or silver coins you have, take them out on the lawn and listen, the more you do this the better you will understand your machine.
Don't be tempted to 'upgrade' too quickly, give the new machine a chance, for at least the first year.
Also join a club if you are not a member already, most club members are very helpful.
Good hunting.
