I completely forgot about this! Appears to be silver plated on lead - done the silver test. I found it in the drainage ditch of the field far to the right with the cows in right at the end of the day and showed it to a few of the burnt die hards leff at the end. Shocked You should have seen the two blisters that emerged on me - last time I wear a wife beater (vest}! Roll Eyes

I am pretty shure it a off a leather horse thingy - lead/silver plated - any ideas anyone? Strange how much silver plated lead came off that land!

I am open to suggestions.

As you say Neil, there were several of these silvered lead harness mounts found. Post-medieval but nice. Would have looked good when new. I wonder if they were all part of a fancy set which over the years gradually dropped off?

Nice find Neil, not seen the like before, but it must have been impresive when new.Its manufacture must have been time consuming, shaping the silver, decorating it and then filling with lead, and all done by hand probably.
