Hello all,

Managed to get back onto one of my most productive fields last night. I've had a stack of hammered from it over the years and I thought I'd thrashed it, to the point where I could spend a couple of hours on it and come home with nothing. The grass had been cut earlier in the week so as it was so hot and the field is fairly flat I thought I'd give it a go.
I managed to pick out a slight signal that was giving me a lot of iron buzz on the Deus, but the reading was around 72 so I thought I'd dig it. Was very pleased when this popped out from about 10 inches.

Think it's an Eddy 3rd Half Groat, if you can add anything to that I'd be grateful.

Thanks

I bet that gave you a buzz!

I think it is a full groat, that's been clipped - London mint, mostly likely pre-treaty period as there are annulet stops

If that coin only just gave a buzz on the Deus, think of the other coins that you are missing because they are smaller / on edge.

I know that in my most productive field (which I haven't had a signal off for a year now) I picked up some groats, but didn't initially detect the quarter noble in the spoil that I dug out.......

It does look a bit too big for a half groat, nice one Mr Roberts.

I'd be chuffed if it was a full groat, never had a full one before.

Thanks for that. We had a lot of rain last night so hopefully that will have livened it up a bit, back on there soon so we'll see what else turns up.

That's what I like to hear perseverance, never give up especially on a well worked productive field. Well done cracking coin.  Wink
