Here are my finds from the new field, I thought it would be the last search but I reckon I can squeeze 1 more in tomorrow although the maize is really coming on it's just about detectable without damage to the crop, the farmers happy so I am...plenty of roman but badly corroded, I just have to hope they dropped some more silver or large bronzes as they would survive the soil conditions ? Sorry there not as good as Emperor Dingasdongas coins  he's really on a roll...well done Chris.....There does seem to be a lot of buttons from this field the farmer said this 30 acre field was divided into 30, one acre plots around the 16th century although not much coinage from that period.. I just thought I would show the lead I have dug in just over 1 year!! underneath the pile are thousands of smaller pieces, I think I have found out why my neck aches so much Lol...

weigh in the lead and buy your farmer and his wife the usual bottle and chocs!!!!

Lol, for got to mention I've taken the lead to a farmer who does sea fishing, he has a mate who has moulds and makes his own weights, it will be interesting to see how man he gets from this lot, I know they lose a lot over wrecks so every little helps Al...

Well with regards to your latest expedition,im sure that your using a Dyson and just sucking them out of the soil...well done Paul.

Certainly not lack of signals Paul. Last pic' top right, do I see a couple of gaming pieces ? Aren't they worth saving!
I caught the tail end of a Time Team program at lunch time. They were somewhere in Somerset, Roman Mosaics, walls etc. What struck me was the lack of depth on the dig. They were excavating at detector depth, no more than about 8 inches. I wondered if some of your fields were like that.

Well certainly plenty of signals - mostly 4th century by the looks of it this time.

There's some places I detect where the button density is higher even than your finds, just don't get the roman to go with it!

Fantastic amount of lead - I think I've got about 20kg from detecting so far, but I've been casting into ingots as exercise weights for people
