Hi Peter

i found this object yesterday. It's 30mm square with a Rampant Lion and what looks like a heraldic shield around its neck area.

I am aware that Rampant Lions have a scottish connection and was wondering if the shield is also connected that way. Can you help ID this, or do you have any contacts who could take a look at this for me, and to add to the information gleaned so far?

Cheers

WOW !! BRILLIANT find Alan, certainly looks very, very impressive, and could have great historical significance, after all,the Scott's and English have had a few skirmishes over the years.
Will follow this piece with great interest in finding out the origin and date  of this great find.....well done..👏👏👏👍

That's a very interesting find Al, love to know if the Peter can find out anything about it.

It's components are interesting as well. Crossed swords is military, Rampant, crowned lion is Royal and the thing around it's neck reminds me of the Christian symbol of the double cross.

Look forward to an I.D. Fingers crossed.

Hi just an observation that the doubled bar cross was on the emblem of one of teams playing in the European games this week, not sure but it could be Slovenia.

Very perceptive comments Val. I hadn't noticed the crossed swords or the crowned Lion!!! More info to go on, than you.

Smoo, you are the second person to suggest to me a possible link with Slovakia/Slovenia area. Hopefully the Doc will come up with some extra info.

All ideas gratefully received.
