Managed to get out briefly today at about 10am with Johnny to one of his fields.

Johnny started the ball rolling with a well and truly battered hammie - looks Tudor ish (did it clean up at all mate?). I followed this with a Medieval mount of some kind - with fixing hooks still on the back. Shortly after this I had a lovely signal and I was soon holding a long piece of silver - hallmarked and with some hand engraved marks at either end. Does anyone have any suggestions? It has a joint that rotates on the end, but its quite crude. Johnny thought maybe a stem from glasses - I'm not sure personally.

Anyway the finds dried up and I had to be home soon - rugby and wife were calling! Well done Wales by the way Grin.  So we quickly packed up and headed to some pasture I have nearby, where Johnny found a nice 17th C bickle and I weighed in with my customery Cartwheel Penny and of course a bloody pidgeon ring yet again! Tongue

cheers

Well done Kev - only a million were minted according to my Whitman folder. Sounds a lot, but when you take into a ccount its 150 year old, a lot will have disappeared.

Worth a few quid as well - I have been trying to collect all the threepences in the 1820 - 1947 folders for three years or so. Theres quite a competitive market for any pre 1870's in good nick.

Sorry I didn't get in touch this weekend, it was a last minute thing. I am still on for a trip soon though.

cheers
