Hi all

I`m new to the site..... I`ve only been detecting a couple of months, but I`m well and truly hooked!!

I`ve a Garrett Ace 250, and am just learning to master the tones...... I`ve mainly done beaches......LOADS of old pennies, 3p bits and fishing weights, but no gold or silver (yet)

I was out with my daughter on Penarth beach last week, and 2 gents came over and introduced themselves to me (DaMonkey and Ozzy) - who I believe are moderators on this site?? - Very friendly fellas, who told me about this site etc

Anyway, I`m waffling......

Just a couple of questions if anybody could help me please

1) If I sign up for next rally.....is there a charge? Who do I meet? Where do I get details/directions etc?

2) Has anybody local(ish) got a permission that they wouldn`t mind a "buddy" coming on for the day?? - I would really like to see what the garrett can do in a field/pasture - and would also be nice to meet up with somebody else who could maybe help me learn a bit more.

Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear back from some of you soon

Hello Peter and welcome to the Forum.
Answer to question 1 is £7 paid on the day, collected by One of the officials, meet everyone when you get there and Directions posted to you by E.Mail the night before(usually 7 ish)  they also appear in your Personal Messages.
Can't help with question 2 as I live over by Tenby, but I'm sure someone nearer to you will offer.
Best of luck with you hunting. If you need any other advice, just ask.

Hi Peter, and a very warm welcome to the Detecting Wales forum.
It's a great forum, with a wealth of DETECTORISTS with a vast amount of detecting experience, never be afraid to ask,we all had to start at some time.
I notice you are using a Garrett ACE 250,its a very underestimated machine, it was my first machine, and in actual fact it was with such a machine I found my first hammered coin.
Unfortunately, I like VAL,live in Pembroke, and it's too far away to be of any help regarding doing a bit of detecting on a couple of my farm permissions, however, saying that,if ever your down this way, give me a shout on the forum, and maybe we could sort something out.
Anyway, Peter, good hunting and I hope you find all in which you go searching for.....👍

Thankyou both Smiley

More than I found on my first few outings. You're going to leave some of us behind the way you're going.

Well done, keep it up  Wink Grin
