Not much to show for my efforts today except a Beehive Thimble. Quite pleased with that.

Not even a sniff of anything Neolithic, not even a bit of flint.

And don't forget the shrapnel Smiley

Every time I get a strong signal on machine and it's a bit of WWII anti-aircraft shell I inwardly sigh!

Nice thimble though - never found a thimble that old myself

Where am I?

Yes, nice thimble Val, I got quite a few of them, mostly battered and bruised. Why so many thimbles in the fields? did the farmers wives used to sit in the fields and sew while their menfolk farmed?

Thanks for the comments.

Probono, are you saying that something on pici is military ?

Geordiefred,  Do I need to go to Specsavers. You could be right. I'll take some more pics and post for further comments. It'd be monumental if it is. I thought it was a drawer or box handle  Grin

Wittsy,  That thimble is approx. late 1300 early 1400's I've found quite a few more modern ones myself. All like yours, battered and bruised with bits missing. I think they wore out quickly, being cheap, and were thrown out onto the muck pile and eventually spread on the fields. My theory anyway  Roll Eyes

Thanks geordiefred for the nudge about the brooch  Grin

Got to admit it's not the first thing I've ignored. I was on my 3rd Cow horn protector before I found out it wasn't a door knob  Roll Eyes
