Hello Jerry am ok thankyou my friend have an update a mate of mine E.Mailed the pictures to an "expert" and got this reply.

He believes its an incomplete strap fitting of the "Carolingian" era dated it to between 800 and 1,000.
Stated it is very scarce in this country with only a few recorded on the PAS Database.
If anyone wants to see the write up of another found in U.K. check out PAS Record number  SF8855.
I have E.Mailed the pictures to Mark Lodwick who will record it at next club meeting.
Another good day out in East Monmouthshire. PaulB.

What a great find Paul. I've always thought there was something special about the Carolingians. Their history goes way back. Wonder how it came to be in Wales.
