Can't help much other than to say it was a decorative mount but off what is anyones guess. It's obviously very old and a lovely find.

Thank you Val, it is a nice piece. one of the best lead pieces I have found and I agree it looks very old to me. On my way to the museum today to pick up my bits so will take it along and see what mark says.
