Hemm!!! I liken this thread to,say, you run a top line car Jag,Bently,Rolls, etc, you would EXPECT to spend that much more on servicing and general maintenance SO,if you buy into a top line metal detector, you shouldn't be surprised if it costs more to keep a top line detector in top form, just my opinion, not said to try an influence anyone in any way...LOL👍

would it be cheaper to speed charge it while you have a brew half way through the day ?

The battery is still on its way out Steve, so needs replacing. I haven't bought a battery in five years and haven't had to shell out for a couple of pinpointers in the same time so it isn't that expensive

Speed charging isn't good for any battery, slow is great but frustrating, topping up is fine though as wet feet suggested

As for life,5 years is about what I would expect from a coil battery, maybe another year on phones or remote as they don't have such a hard life, these two batts can be changed by the owner & are £33 each, easy fit.

There are many variable that affect overall battery life, my own Deus is a tad over 6 years old & still has all original batts (lower capacity when it came out), the coil batt however I'm down to 5-6 hrs from it's original 8-9 hrs so time to replace with the later high capacity batts.

hiya Nige......as a man of the industry, any chance you can influence the eggheads at xp and get them to upgrade the Deus to wireless charging?....that clip charger is a total pain in the aris Wink

Sorry for late reply, I did indeed ask that very question before the Deus came out, Alain explained the reasons why induction charging wouldn't be suitable but can't remember now 7yrs on, sorry.
