Being new to detecting, and after 8 months detecting nothing but beaches and asking 53 people about detecting on their land, and getting a NO every time. I finally have my first permission, I really considered packing it all in but thanks to an off the cuff remark it landed me a gi-huge field with a large amount of woodland boardering it, plus the farmhouse front and rear gardens and paddock area, as well as three huge fields adjacent.. I'm over the moon.. So if you are still struggling to get your first permission, DONT GIVE UP, it will come..

To Raistlain and Mike, thanks to you both. Just wanted a chance to do some land, and not some soggy bit of sand (especially not with an ace 250)..lol.

Well done on getting some land Blade.   Remember your P's and Q's i.e. fill your holes, shut the gates, etc.  Then you can go to the next owner with a clean reference.
It's amazing how often it works when you can say ' I've been doing a bit of detecting on Joe Bloggs's fields and wondered if ?'
hope you find something nice. The Ace  is much better on land. We'll watch this space.

It's the hardest part of detecting getting the ok, that's a lot of knocking on doors you've done so you deserve a yes, best of luck . Wink

Hi there Blade, it's not always easy getting permissions as there are a lot of farmers out there who will not let you on their land. I once spent a full day going round and round with nothing to show for it. Yet another day I went to two farms and was given permission on them both, with one of the farmers spending about a hour telling me all about his land and inviting me in for a cuppa as well as he was that interested in detecting. It is very hit and miss with them but at the end of the day it is their land. As for your detector that was my first and I found a lot of good stuff with it all on farm land, I only ever went beach detecting once with it and found it a waste of time though. Good luck and good hunting. Look forward to seeing your finds on the forum.
