Hello all, thanks for accepting me,

I'm the proud new owner of a garrett euro ace, my first 'proper' metal detector.. a bit of an upgrade from an old Tandy one from ca. 1664(!)

Yesterday I got the permit for foreshore detecting so went to aberavon beach after work to try it out.. and found some "treasure":

an old budweiser bottle cap
someones house key (pretty corroded so I doubt it's recently been lost)
a 6mm dowel pin (presumably from one of those land going/kite driven carts)
a piece of iron presumably from a gate,
and a victoria cross 50p!

so quite a nice hour before it got dark.

I'm a bit restricted to beaches at the moment but hopefully I can join some of you at some nearby events or something.

I've asked to join swansea MDC but haven't had a reply yet.

so there you are.. that's a long enough intro!

Here's a picture of my finds from yesterday!

All the best,
Tom

Hi ya Tom G,
First and foremost, a very warm welcome to Detecting Wales,it really is a great forum,if ever you need any help on any detecting queries, there's nearly always some one on the forum to come up with an answer,so never be afraid to ask,we all had to start somewhere.
Anyway TomG good luck, and I hope you find everything you go in search of.👍

Thank you all for the welcomes!

I like watching 'time team' (don't judge!) and think it'd be nice to one day find something worthwhile and see it in a museum or something! and get to say "I found that"

failing that I will start a large collection of scrap metallic objects...

Also thank you for the PM; unfortunately I can't reply yet as I haven't made enough posts.

Kind regards,
Tom

Yeah I had a PM about Swansea MDC, I will come along and say hello.

After bathing in vinegar for a day or two (not me; the coin) my 50p is brand new, so maybe that could win find of the month  Roll Eyes lol.  If i haven't already spent it on chocolate!
