Can anybody tell me if this is a spindle whorl please? its made lead and is slightly cone shaped. Is their anyway of dating these things? ....cheers.

I would say yes.....probably lol, it looks to be a post medieval "Bun" whorl, as for dating them then I'd have to say "no not really accurately" though pattern ones "tend" to be medieval, biconical versions also "tend" to be medieval, conical "tend" to be Roman and the bun type like yours are "usually" post medieval but and it's a big but Grin the problem with lead items is that many were home made as all you need is an ordinary cooking pan, a fire and a mould so the chances are that at one time or another all versions have existed in the same era, if possible dating them by associated finds is the best Wink
