Found this button at Gileston rally its aprox 28mm in diameter and 5mm in depth and I think its lead aloy of some sort . Anybody got an idea of what age it could be please?

Well found "Mudskipper" very nice button,well found!!
At a guess I would suggest late 16th/early 17th century, but there are others who are far more informed than me that would probably be able to put a finer date to it !!!👍

I found a fairly similar button not too far away from there (near Wenvoe Castle Golf Club) - very heavy and thick.

Judging by the corrosion products on that one (and the colour peeping through on the loop), I'd say there was a bronze / copper basis to it.

Cheers probono, it apears to have some silvering or tinning on it which doesn't show in the pic, and like yours its heavy for its size it weighs 10.1 g.
