Hi Geoff
I had a swing this morning and found these two silvers and Bristol token I think one is a Lizzy groat and the cut half could be a Charles 2nd could you confirm for me please
Also could you explain about the token what were they used for,Were they issued to the employees or issued to the general public

I agree the small coin looks like a Charles II.....It looks as if it was pierced before splitting Wink

The "Token" is known more accurately as a farthing these were issued at a time when there were no official farthings and low denomination coinage was still in very short supply as a result of the recent civil war they were issued by both town councils and tradesmen (thus their proper name of "tradesman's farthing) and seem to have been widely accepted as currency, they were never officially sanctioned but were allowed until regular coinage came along to end their use Wink
