Silver Thimble

With the vast majority of finds without the aid of a time machine the reason they end up where we find them is only ever guesswork and thimbles are no different though one probable reason is the sowing up of sacks whether they be wool for market or wheat for the mill and up until mechanisation this process was almost timeless, I have a corner in one field that has given up four and a half medieval and post m thimbles, this area is on a slight rise and south facing with good views of the fields below and you can imagine this being a nice spot to do your work. I'm not sure if I'd be brave enough to say this includes silver thimbles though silver being more important than the practicality of the thimble is a very modern construct. It's a cracking find whatever the reason
