Where am I?

« on: August 28, 2015, 02:19:14 PM »

Afternoon folks. Had an afternoon out yesterday in freshly harvested spud field. Anyway after about an hour of nothing to right home about I got a nice shrill tone, had a dig and out popped this Roman coin. Very nice I thought as I filled the hole in, stood up and gave the area another sweep and bugger me another shrill tone so I had to dig out the same hole again and this time, a bit deeper down, out popped what I think might be a fragment of Roman Brooch. I must remember to check the hole before filling in.
Anyway any ID on coin would be greatly appreciated and am I right in thinking the fragment is part of Roman Brooch.

well done wittsy, yes it is a fragment of a roman brooch.

the coin looks 4th century, probably house of constantine.

Well done Wittsy as Alan says the coin is an early 4th century by the look but more importantly that brooch would have been 200 years old by the time that coin was lost so the site has a longgggggggg history of use Wink
