Hi guys, out with keepmeteethinthejar today on one of my sites, he was getting the hang of his Nexsus Bonanza its a learning curve and would be interested if any one has used one inland and there experiences Wink any way I had these 2 fine pieces. The first was the La' Tene Brooch (Wessex Type) 4th-3rd century BC. I love these brooches and have had a few from here. The other thing is a bronze Awl.  Wink

Benny,   you wouldn't like what Paul has to dig, it's all stones, lumps of chalk and a bit of dirt thrown in.  That's the main reason so many of the finds are well preserved.

Very nice find Paul.  If only we didn't have such acid soil over here.  I'm amazed at the Bronze and Iron age population around here but anything they left behind has long since rotted away.  That has got to be the best early Iron Age brooch I've seen.

I love the Flint Val, as you know and it does do something to the protection of the artefacts for sure. I will pop up a picture later of a bigger example of this brooch later found close by, then decide if this one is best example  Wink

Cheers Geoff, the pin was not located in catch plate when found so I gently and stupidly some may say eased it back. I know!! I should know better it just looks better. It is strange as I have found a few of these and they always have pin in tact never missing....thankfully Wink
