I’ve managed a few trips in this hot weather Cool with little to show other than bites, sweat and frustration! The latter due to lack of fields, this is normal for us at this time of year. However an old pasture field that was once my best medieval field for finds given it was a small fair site has had cattle in and so the grass was low although some of the thistles was 4 ft. high but it was easy to walk among these to search. The ground is very flinty and coupled with the very dry conditions I knew digging would not be easy but beggars can’t be choosers, any way after a 2 hour search I came up with the following which was a good result under these difficult conditions. It was nice to get a couple of farthings and the soldino (During the early 15th and early 16th centuries the English economy experienced so serious a shortage of English-struck halfpennies that people began using foreign coinage to fill the gap he coin they used was the Venetian soldino) The token is as yet unidentified Wink Oh whilst on my way to the site I came across this little fellow playing with a couple more stoats in the road so I managed to take a shot at distance with my compact not particularly good but rare to catch on camera on the spur of the moment.
