Where am I?

« on: July 02, 2015, 11:03:53 AM »

Just been having a root through my box of bits and pieces and came across this I found a while back. Badge of some sort with the initials IPY and the word Cavalry below. Any ideas. Found in Pembrokeshire so I thought the 'P' might stand for Pembroke or Pembrokeshire.

That looks an interesting find Wittsy and I've got to say one that I haven't got a clue about but as you say the P could relate to Pembrokeshire and the Y could be Yeomanry Huh My advise would be to drop The Pembroke Yeomanry Trust an email along with these photographs and see if they have any ideas Wink

Thanks Geoff, just sent them email as suggested. Very interesting and if related to Pembroke Yeomanry they can gladly have it from me.

If you click on the heading   THE PEMBROKESHIRE HISTORIAN  it takes you to a number of articles that have been digitised.

Some of them are very interesting.

Nice find and in good condition considering it's age and what it's made of wittsy

If you're interested wittsy, here's more including the Royal Warrant issued by Queen Victoria in 1853. See showcase 1.

Shame you can't expand the picture.

Couldn't agree more Chris far better and of great local interest and could have only been owned by one of a few hundred people given that that independent regiment was only in existence for around 13 years Wink
