(Relicron)  Hi guys,Had a lovely day out yesterday with my butty's tom and Darren on one of mine and toms farms, luckily the silage fields was still short enough for us to have a good day out, what a lovely day it was to we were burnt to crisps,we had a couple of lovely finds, tom had a william111 sixpence, and we think something to do with Elizabeth 1st,its like a coin but its made of lead really nice, tom will put it on when he comes home on Monday.i had a lovely silver button and I think a strap end and quite a few more buttons a couple of coins and bits and pieces, darren had more or less the same and he did have a big pot leg to got with his pot belly, haha, here are a couple of photos of our finds,if anybody got any idea to one of my finds could you please let me know,i think its silver its bigger than a penny and it got the the letters CBC on a shield in the middle with a cross o

(Tom) Twas a very nice day indeed!!  We had to blindfold Darren before we got to the farm.  Lots of signals to keep the three of us busy, then one eye on the screen and the other watching the horse flies.  We had a great variety of finds that came through the ages, some silver, lots of buttons, some coins, pre and post decimal and a variety of artifacts.  Think i'll start a new thread as a continuation of this, so that I can show some photos too.  Happy Digging!!

Tom.As Ron said, the three of us had a great day.  Lots of interesting finds and lots more signals that had us digging all day.  Ground was incredibly hard in places but us heavyweights and a sharp spade managed it okay.
I have a few finds for ID please?  The first is a lead round that is stamped with insignia and there's a type of clip on the reverse.  I think my one silver is a William 3rd something and the other is a silver Joey (3d)   I also had a copper coin which I cannot identify, I can see the word which looks like ROLO.  Perhaps someone can help with these?

We of course had our usual great laugh.  I had a story to tell of what happened to me on Friday morning.  A neighbour from down the street knocked my door and said he had a parcel delivered to his house by mistake, with my name on it.
What can it be?  thought I!  I haven't ordered anything!  Anyway, my neighbour delivered the parcel ten minutes later.
It was a heavy box, about the size of a shoe box.  This had me puzzled, so I opened the top of the box and could see what looked like an old fashioned sweet jar.  Yum Yum thought I, someone has sent me a jar of sweets.  As I lifted the jar from the box, I had a shiver go right down my spine.  It was my uncles ashes!!!!  He died about 2 months ago at his home in Nottingham and had left a wish that his ashes be returned to Wales and scattered near his birth town of Merthyr.  Anyway that's the end of that short story.  It certainly had us laughing for a while.

Hi Relicron, suggestions only, first photo could be  snuff box,as the retailer would"perhaps " sell it.
Second,perhaps a medieval strap end!!
You've certainly got some interesting land beneath your feet !!

My goodness!!  I didn't realize we had so many and varied finds.  It is a great farm as we never know what could turn up and about 400 acres to play with.  We should keep finding as the crops are cut to stubble and then the fields go to the plough again.  It will make a nice change to get off the dry, hard ground pasture.
I know getting out is difficult at the moment, with the weather and the ground conditions against us, but it would be nice to read some reports and stories from other detectorists
Come on the rest of you guys on the forum!!!!, are we the only ones that are braving the heat?
Happy Digging Everyone!!!.  Tom

Forgot to mention, me and Ron had a few hours on a local farm today and found 27 post decimal coins, 3 buttons and the usual pull tabs etc.  It was difficult digging to say the least.  The constant heat and low pressure humidity combining to make our skin leak.  In the end, we couldn't wait to get back in the car and head for home.  All in the day of a mad-for-it detectorist team.
