Where am I?

« on: June 07, 2015, 05:12:51 AM »

Thanks again for the welcome to the forum. Thought I would start the ball rolling with these four oblects. They where found within a couple of metres of each other using my CTX. The field is pasture and overlooks a river estuary. Any ideas what they might be. Hope the pictures are good enough for ID purposes. Thanks in advance.

Shocked They be treasure they be ahhh!  They look to be awls and possibly bronze age, a cracking find and no mistake as you have 4 they do fall under the treasure act so must be reported but could prove to be an historicly imortant find Wink

Obviously an awl as we know them are pointed (many of these do have one pointed and one flat end) their exact use isn't known but are thought to be woodworking tools though the amount that are found it makes me wonder if they had a more everyday use Huh
The treasure act states that an assemblage of two or more prehistoric metal items constitute as treasure Wink

I wonder if these might not be awls but copper nails from a boat or ship?
