This little find has stumped me, at first i thought a lighter, then oil can, but not so sure now.
On each shoulder there seems to be remains of a loop, maybe to hold a chain ?
Material seems to be either pewter or copper.
Any ideas much appreciated  Wink

That's a bit of a puzzler!!the only think is that it might be a container which may have contained methalated spirit used to further the ignition on a "primus" stove, apart form that,no idea!!.....however,very nice unusual find, well done 👍👍

I've got an idea it's an oil can for a Sewing Machine.  I remember my Mother in Law had one similar for her Singer treadle.

I think Val has probably hit the nail on the head, but initially I thought it may have been a container for holy water!

There's a similar one on here, if the link works

My first thought was the same Chris but it looks a bit modern for that.

Hey Nobby mate,I think you are on the money,as I recall now,my grandfather used to have one very similar its all come flooding back now,he used it for oiling the hammer mechanism's etc on the shotguns he used to own, quite collectable I think.
