Phone call from old detecting mate. Farmer has lost a bit off his tractor while rolling a DEEP PLOUGHED FIELD. Can we help find it.
Well, as said, its not nice to be rude so-----"Oh god" Suppose I,ll have to, see you soon.
Apparently it gets spread with muck and slurry this week.
Covered about 1/3rd of the field between us and so far no tractor bit.
HOWEVER

The hammy is the same size as an Edward halfpenny. Can any of you experts recognise it?
The dagger chape?  was a pleasant surprise and the little cannon is a first ever for me, but is cast in lead, although the barrel goes right down and the touch hole appears to be there, Could this be the genuine article and how old might it be.
Thanks for looking

Well done b. buoy, some cracking finds. Keep looking for that tractor part and you never know what else you'll find.

Lol Grin
I really would like to find it and joking apart I tried again for a good hour yesterday in the area he thought he lost it. I have dug some massive chunks of iron, gate posts, plough bits and horseshoes and stacked them in the side of the hedge.
Trouble is, this is a farming contractor who lost it when deep ploughing and then rolling. I have found in the past that people are never very accurate in where stuff was lost and although I already have permission on this land from the farmer, the contractor hasn't answered his mobile. These guys seem to have the very best tractors and equipment and I would imagine that these special pins are expensive. as well.
I will try again today but time is running out.
I originally tried in GM2 on the Deus but have now gone on to Deus fast. Hence the small, but very welcome signals

Today was my final day before seeding and should go down in history as a NEARLY day

NEARLY found my 3rd hammy. Henry v111 but not complete
NEARLY had a gold ring, only it was plated
NEARLY found his tractor bit, but didn't quite
One final field walk tomorrow, just in case. Field is now raked and is very soft soil which is 5 inches deep
Maybe next year Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes
