It was last minute invitation to some detectorists from our local club and I decided to go along not really understanding what it was about..But was pleasantly surprised to see Alison the finds curator of the Manx Museum ,producing pictures of metal detecting finds over the last few years and complimenting the locals for  acting within the law and donating a lot finds to them. But the most interesting piece was by Sir Davids Wilson talk on the Viking beach markets and showing a map of where these beach markets around the U.K.Were. and included was my site with its nice finds.Curators and PAS people were there from all over the country and were suitably impressed

Strange you should mention the Vikings Rob.  For the want of something better to do, I was having another look at the Royal Commission on Ancient Monuments in Wales 1906 edition for Pembrokeshire. A small mention was made about Tenby, Gumfreston and BEGELLY (where I live) being carved out of an early Amroth by Norse settlers.  Really !!!!!
I could be sitting on a Viking Hoard and not know it.

Is that map you mentioned available to the public. As Tenby was supposedly a Viking port it would be interesting to know if any beach markets were held around here though I've never heard of anything being found.

I would look for a placename ending in wick (Norse word for Creek or Harbour....It has to a flat beach with low cliffs .Qur site was confined to 3/4 acres and 200yds from sea.Keep trying Val....ROB
