Well done Simon, that's a bit different for Herefordshire not Russian but Dutch...it's a token that was issued by the city of Groningen during the Dutch revolt against Spain Wink

Your right there and we can only ever guess at the answers but try this one on for size.....Leominster was one of the top wool producing towns in the county at that time being more prosperous than even Hereford the 16th century also saw Dutch and Flemish weavers being invited into the country to work as they were considered the best in the world, I know of a village close to me here in Somerset that has records of Walloon weavers in the 1620's and the DW rallies that we had at Hawksbury in Gloucestershire were close to two hamlets named Dunkirk and Petty France both named after the communities of weavers that once lived there. Out of the other 4 on the PAS website 3 could be explained by their being found  close to known ports but I don't think you can get much further from the sea than Leominster lol and while there are obviously thousands of other scenarios that you could come up with to explain it being there this one would fit and allow you to sleep at night Grin
