Hi Webber, let us know how you got on in Porthcawl.
I'm always interested as I live there, and have found the detecting very poor of late. Things have not recovered after the storms of last spring.
I walked the length of the sea wall between the marina and donkey beach this morning  and noticed the sand at the top of the beach was as high as it has ever been.
Hopefully that might mean the sand has thinned out toward the middle of the beach.

It's the same around Tenby. Sand really high at top of beach. I noticed some big rocks had got stuck in the sand and washed round and round making a hollow.  Some of the hollows where at least 18in deep and no sign of the sand thinning at the bottom.
Makes you realise there's not much chance of finding, unless it's a recent drop.
