As Paul found a nice Ironage coin I thought id do a link to the latest coin hoard up for sale from the same tribe, its also a very good read by John Philpotts ( Silbury coins )
All coins sold comes with a booklet, I went for the one I fancied just to own a part of the hoard and history behind it, I think it great that the public can have the chance for a coin like this in there collection...... The hoard Its all recorded with the P.A.S but disclaimed Wink

Is there a load of Saxon pennies next? It would be the time to buy Wink

Well I don't have any interest in coins so I'll take your word for it but they do sell on the bay regularly for under £50 Wink

Well we all know what Saxby's is like, so no need to say anything there.

How heavy are they Dale - if they are decent silver (and >5 grams) then they have a higher price - I remember paying around £100 for good silver ones (the 'white gold' type) - I agree with Geoff though that I remember buying a pile of these (a few years ago) for less than £30 each.........

Hi Roland mines number 35 (4.28g) https://finds.org.uk/database/artefacts/record/id/574910

When the Isle of Wight Durotriges coin hoard was sold off to collectors you could pick up a very high grade coin with good weigh and metal for £70-£80 due to the amount for sale at the time, trying to get one now you would be looking over £250+
Mike Vosper listed a very nice one on eBay the other week I added it to my watch list, then noticed it had sold straight away, I managed to found the coin on his website    https://www.vosper4coins.co.uk/   for £30-50 you will get an example but not the best as you say;)
sold for £375

I know that I bought at least one off someone who had a lot of the Isle of Wight hoard - might even have been the finder (he seemed to have a lot of them on eBay, was from the IoW) - it was a good coin and I wish I hadn't sold it on.....

Mind you Vosper has always been pricey - even when I first bought from him (almost last time I bought from him) at the York coin fair in 2001

Same reason you can buy one for £30....they are a pretty common find and museums have got enough to fill a warehouse  Wink
