I've Googled KGL 6 German Military buttons and found references for Kings German Legion 2nd Battalion and
Kings German Legion 5th Battalion. The 5th were formed in 1805 and were nearly wiped out at Waterloo as part of Wellingtons army
in 1815 before being disbanded the following year.
Wikipedia has a reference for 6th division [ German Empire ] which was formed in
Dusseldorf in 1816 as a Brigade and became the 6th Division in September 5th 1818.  The 6th Division was a Prussian/ German Army. I'm not sure if this the same Division as the KGL 6 but the dates seem to match
