Here are 4 hours detecting with the Deus in a local park that is about to have some tennis courts and running track built . It was good fun and just shows what parks can hold Wink the brooch shown is a costume piece stamped Gesgesch  and abbreviated form of Gesetzlich Geschutzt. (Legally protected ,copyrighted, patented) a shame the stones are not real Shocked Shocked

I want a park.  That's more coins than I found all through last year. S'pose most of them were quite shallow though Paul.
Pretty good going for 4 hours even at 1 inch.  Well done that man.

Thanks guys it was fun , I know they had a flower show there for the last 60 years. Val most of the coins were 4-5 inches well at least the pennies and threepenny bits the rest shallower. Deus programm 1 basic.  Wink

Not bad - in my local park (on a good day) I reckon on about minimum wage for detecting, although I've been there often enough recently that that's dropped off.

Great number of old pennies, but like my park detecting, not so many 1/2ds - I get very little silver in the parks I'm in - in one place I found a small scatter of 14 pre decimals and none were silver more's the pity.

Unfortunately they've decided to dig half the park up (to a depth of 5 foot) to put some flood defences in - last time I went out I only found pre-decimal - hit a bit of a hot spot, but I usually only have an hour or so to detect there.

Nice going for a day's detecting; yer spade must have been redhot!

I got the opportunity to detect a building project on an old sports ground last year and was amazed at how productive it was. Despite the can-slaw and coin-slaw I never came away without loads of decimal and predecimal coins. There were also other interesting finds to be had; pocket watch fragments, AA shell drive ring segments, even an old horse brass and some harness fittings.
