Hi everyone,
This is my first post so forgive any errors. When I was on the Abingdon dig I came across what at first glance was a military button. However, on cleaning it up the text on the button is "Bute Docks".
Would anyone have any ideas on this button as to age, origin etc. I have searched the net but nothing comes up. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Arthur

Hi Arthur and welcome to DW
A photograph would help to confirm things but it sounds like a police uniform button from the Bute Docks Police 19th century.
