Hi there , bought a GPS logger from Maplins a few days ago, I must say I'm impressed. A lot of people will think whats the point, but I do like gimicky boys toys, this is how i used it.

I was on a farm I dont normally go on , and on a new field I'd not been on before. when I dug a good signal I clicked the log button twice. I did this for several signals. When I went home I then plugged it into the pc and Google earth fetched up the field and precise locations of the finds.

You can also leave the logger running what this does is log your walking path so when you play back the logger through the pc it draws a coloured line on the exact path and route you take on the field. great for analysing patches of the field you missed.

What I also did yesterday was , after detecting went for a run around and saw quite a few farms that looked very interesting. When I passed one of these farms I double clicked the logger and that stored the precise location of the farm i saw  Grin

Maplins have got the Holux GPSport 245 on offer at the moment £120.00 down to £60.00 . Well impressed with it,  You can also log a site  of interest on google earth and set the logger to take you to the exact position on the field , mountain side or whatever.

Anyone want a look at the logger I'll fetch it to the rally on Sunday.

Sounds a great bit of kit that Rob, like the idea of it logging your path on the field as well as all of the other Important bits.

Thats what impressed me as well. Its also charges whilst connected to the pc , so no need to keep changing the batteries

Rob, I have been using GPS to record my find spots for years, but my unit is getting a bit long in the tooth now so that deal at maplins sounds great.

Most frightening thing is when you play back your route and you can see all the places in a field you missed.

Been looking at it for a while Rob and is a excellent Aid to any Detectorists Kit. Glad you bought it to the attention of the masses. Have been to find it from two different Maplins and been out of stock. Ordered on line this morning.
