Now the end of 2014 is near, it may be interesting to list some of this years best finds. For me it's :-
 
1] Early Medieval Gold ring

2] Vessica seal

3] Hammerd coins x 3

4] Victoria silver coins  x 6

I've only been out 9 times this year which going back to 2011 wouldn't have even equated to 2 weeks worth of detecting Cry that year I had 35 hammered and 127 Roman coins as my 12 month tally. But in the sense of productivity for hours spent this year's measly total of 2 hammered, 1 Saxon sceat, 5 Roman and 2 fibula is probably the best ever Grin

gold ring 1870
gold hammy Edward111 quarter noble
gold milled    james 11 guinea
silver hammys x 5
love tokens, thumbles, copers galore.
brass georgian cannon, lead and buttons by the ton.

What a fantastic hobby this is and yes this is probably
going to be my best year for a long time to come.

Yes, it goes like that sometimes - I've found no gold at all this year, but last year managed 3 gold items, and the year before more (although they were in the same hole so, I'm not sure that counts) - have found 6 hammered this year (and a silver roman too), but for me the highlight of the year was a viking weight - basically a lump of lead with some inlaid bronze, but it's something that adds to the history of my part of Wales.

my first full year also and managed (after a lot of learning and still learning the minelab)   39 hammered 3 roman coins,  small roman statue,  roman ring and 10 mixed rings off the beach   as everyone else a mass of pre decimal
